About Me
Working in tax for nearly 40 years and having been a Chartered Tax Adviser for more than 20, I believe I offer my clients the expertise and specialist knowledge needed to get to grips with and solve even the trickiest VAT issues.
After graduating from Queens’ College Cambridge in 1977, I joined the Inland Revenue (now HMRC) as a tax inspector. In 1985, I moved to Deloitte Haskins & Sells, a London-based accountancy firm that later became part of PwC.
In 1988 I moved to Belfast, where I first became involved in advising clients on VAT.
From 2002 to 2010 I was VAT Director at James Cowper LLP, a top 60 accountancy firm in the Thames Valley.
Since late 2010 I have run my own VAT advisory practice. I am based in Newbury, but I work with clients over a wide geographic area, from Northern Ireland to Newmarket and from Australia to Grand Cayman.
My clients are many and varied, including charities, owner-managed businesses and public sector bodies.
I work extensively with lawyers and accountants, who seek my support to help their own clients with VAT difficulties.
My caseload covers a wide range of VAT issues with a particular focus on property and charities.
If you have a VAT issue you would like to discuss, or if you are a lawyer or accountant who wants support for a client with a VAT problem, please get in touch for a no obligation chat.
